More About Me...

Hi there!
My name is Paige Culver. I am a former professional and division 1 soccer player. Unfortunately, I recently sustained a career-ending injury that I was definitely not prepared for.
As an athlete myself, I understand the struggles that athletes face every day in the pursuit of excellence. On this website, you'll find more information about me and my career as well as valuable resources to help athletes overcome the challenges they may face.
More About my Journey
My Football Career
My football journey began at age 4 and I quickly grew a strong passion for the sport. I was selected to play for the Ontario Provincial Team and had the honour to be selected as team captain. After receiving a full scholarship to Kent State University's Soccer Program, I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, specializing in Finance and Marketing. I went on to play professionally in Italy, France, Sweden, Germany, and England, ultimately finishing my career with London City Lionesses in the English Championship.
My Injury Resume
At the age of 16, I was at a pivotal moment in my playing career and had high hopes of making it to the Canadian National Team. However, my dreams were shattered when I suffered a devastating ACL injury during a game. I vividly remember hearing a loud pop as I was tackled, and my first thought was that it couldn't be that bad that I would be back on the field in no time. Little did I know that this injury would mark the beginning of a long and arduous journey towards recovery.
After undergoing a full patella ACL reconstruction, I was set to embark on a grueling six-month rehabilitation process. Although I worked tirelessly to regain my strength and mobility, I was unable to make it back in time for the u17 World Cup, which was a huge blow to my confidence and self-esteem. During my recovery, I also struggled with body image issues and gained weight, which only added to my frustration and disappointment.
Despite these setbacks, I refused to give up on my dreams and continued to play at a high level. However, my knee troubles were far from over. In my junior season at Kent State, I sustained a meniscus tear but decided to play through the pain with a knee full of cortisone until the end of the season. Once the season was over, I returned to Canada to have my meniscus scoped out, which involved removing a significant portion of my lateral meniscus.
Although I was able to continue playing professionally for the next five seasons, my knee problems persisted and I often experienced swelling and stiffness. In 2024, while playing for the London City Lionesses, I began to experience a shooting pain in my knee that could not be alleviated with ice or rest. After undergoing an MRI, I was advised to see a surgeon, who delivered the devastating news that my playing career was over.
My knee had collapsed on itself and shifted out of place, and while a total knee replacement was suggested for older patients, this was not a viable option for me due to my age. Instead, I underwent an Osteotomy, which involves cutting a piece out of my femur and inserting plates and screws to realign my knee and buy me some time before a knee replacement becomes necessary. Ive been told I will never play elite football again and the surgeons are still unsure what my level of activity will be like after full recovery. I am optimistic in my recovery and hopeful for the future.
